Weight optimization

In 2014, VM Tarm a/s produced the Tank Trailer of the Future, as the result of a publicly-subsidised development project focused on reducing the tank trailer’s tare weight.

On a daily basis, the Tank Trailer of the Future transports milk for Arla Foods in Denmark and has so far clocked around one million kilometres. We has it several times to inspection, without any remarks. The tank trailer has proved its viability, even though its dimensions pushed the limits of what we believed to be possible.

VM Tarm a/s is continuing to work on developing weight optimisation. We have also begun to producing duplex steel tanks. This high-strength steel enables us to reduce the thickness gauge by ½-1 mm.
